Come to beautiful Cremona, Italy and experience a unique opportunity by attending the 7th Course of Distal Extremities Surgery and Traumatology. The course will be held in the magnificent Palazzo Trecchi, headquarters of SCIVAC (Italian Association of Veterinarians for Companion Animals). Seminars provide the participant with an understanding of the ethiopathogenesis and mechanism of injury of common and unusual conditions affecting the distal extremities.

AO principles of fracture healing and repair are presented in the lectures, discussions and laboratory exercises. Musculotendinous and ligamentous injury will also be addressed. Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to understand the clinical signs, radiographic changes and physical exam findings of various injuries of the distal extremities. Participants should be able to make an appropriate surgical plan and understand proper postoperative management of the patient.

One of the highlights of the course is the extensive number of practical exercises and the close interaction between participants and faculty. During the labs, participants will perform surgical approaches on cadaver limbs and the exercises on artificial bones. Novel techniques including applications of bone anchors and locking plates are included in the exercises.

Participants work in pairs at fully equipped working stations. Demonstrations are shown on TV monitors prior to the start of the exercise to increase the confidence and understanding of the participant.

Participants will be divided into small groups for fireside discussions. Interesting and challenging cases will be presented by the faculty and discussed with the participants.

The last day is dedicated to an introduction of carpal and tarsal arthroscopy, treatment of difficult injuries using salvage procedures, and presentation of treatment strategies for uncommon fractures, rare conditions and deformities of the extremities.

The Course brings together recognized orthopedic specialists from Europe , North America and Australia who are authorities in the field of distal extremity injury.

In order to maintain the high standard of the course and to insure a smooth running of the laboratories, as a pre-requisite, participants must have previously taken an AO Basic Course.

The Course is limited to 30 participants, for this reason early booking is recommended.
The Course of Distal Extremities Surgery and Traumatology is an official AO Master Course, is considered an ESVOT Standard Course, and is approved by the ECVS. English is the official Language of the Course. Italian translation will be available.
